Miasm theory, introduced by Samuel Hahnemann in The Chronic Diseases (1828), remains a foundational yet controversial concept in homeopathy. This paper examines the historical development, theoretical foundations, clinical relevance, diagnostic indicators, and contemporary critiques of miasmatic theory. The study also compares the classical three-miasm model—Psora, Sycosis, Syphilis—with later expansions such as Tubercular and Cancer miasms. Although widely used clinically, the biological basis of miasms remains scientifically unverified. This paper synthesizes available classical literature, narrates miasmatic symptomatology, and provides a structured interpretation of miasmatic prescribing in modern practice.
